For starters, I think I am 4.5 years old. But I'm not exactly sure. I spent the first part of my life as a stud dog in a puppy-mill before mama and papa adopted me. I try not to think about how hard my life used to be. But now? Now I live the life of luxury. My average day starts off with a solid 8 hour nap, which is my only uninterrupted sleep time. When I have to share the bed with the humans they inevitably wake me up and I have to get in and out of bed at least 5 times to stretch, get a drink, cool off, etc. Sometimes they're the worst. When mama gets home, I get to run around in our brand new fenced in back yard! I keep it clear of squirrels, and I take that job very seriously. Every once in a while they think they can sneak past me and gnaw on our pumpkins, but I show them who's boss. I go so far as to chase them right up the tree. Don't believe me? Here's proof, I climb trees.
Once I tire of that, I saunter back in the house and start checking out what we are having for dinner and make it a priority to get a few tastes. I tussle a little bit with papa, maybe play with bear, and then I follow the humans around the house until they settle down for the night. Once they find their spots on the couch I make it my business to find the most inconvenient spot to curl up. I like to try and be on/ under both of them at once. I'm out cold, until I hear the announcement "bed time." Then I race up the stairs in order to be the first to claim my spot under all the covers.
Don't I have it made? And don't worry about not having a birthday to celebrate (I know you all were), we celebrate adoption day instead- on July 12- so I still get a day dedicated to me where I get lots of treats- come to think of it that sounds like every day… I'm one lucky dog.
